Aksial Sonar does not collect your data. There is no account, no server, and no analytics. Everything it records about your network stays on your device, and network measurements create traffic as described below.

What stays on your device

To show you what changed on your network, the app keeps a local record. It never leaves the device unless you export it deliberately.

• Local device names, local IP addresses, vendor hints and observed service summaries
• DNS, path, responsiveness and LAN crawl observations
• Diagnostic session timelines and the summaries generated from them
• Companion pairing records, if you pair one

This is held in the app's own container and a shared container used by the widget. Deleting the app deletes all of it. Settings › Privacy › Apply retention now prunes older records without removing the app.

What the app sends, and to whom

Diagnostics require traffic. Each of the following is a measurement; none carries anything the app observed on your network.

• Reachability timings: connection timings to public hosts (1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, 9.9.9.9). No payload. Configurable, and you can turn them off or replace them.
• Captive-portal check: one request to captive.apple.com, the same check iOS performs when you join a Wi-Fi network.
• Certificate reachability: a TLS handshake to a well-known host, and to any host you enter yourself, to read handshake timing and certificate expiry.
• Responsiveness: when you tap Measure, parallel connections to Apple's content network for about eight seconds.

The operators of those hosts see an ordinary connection from your IP address, as they would from any app or browser. They do not receive anything about your devices, and we do not receive anything at all.

What the app never does

• No analytics, crash reporting, advertising or attribution SDKs. The app contains no third-party code of that kind.
• No packet capture on iPhone. No .pcapng file is produced.
• No transmission of device names, MAC addresses, hostnames or traffic contents.
• No scanning outside your own private network. Probes are refused against public addresses by default.
• No use of anything you record to train a model.

Exports

When you stop a diagnostic session the app writes a bundle on your device: an event timeline, a readable summary, a privacy note, and an ISP support letter. Private addresses, MAC addresses, Wi-Fi names and local device names are redacted from the readable files by default, and the privacy note in each bundle states exactly what was redacted. Where the bundle goes afterwards is entirely your decision; the app uploads it nowhere.

The Mac companion

Aksial Sonar can pair with a companion program running on a Mac you control, on the same local network. Pairing is initiated by you with a short-lived code, and traffic between phone and companion is encrypted. The companion runs on your machine, its results stay between it and your phone, and the currently published companion launcher does not offer packet capture. There is no relay and no cloud in this path.

System search

The app can optionally add sanitized device and finding labels to Spotlight so they appear in system search. It is off by default. Private IP addresses and MAC or vendor values are never written to the system search index.

Children

Aksial Sonar is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Your rights

Rights of access, correction, erasure and portability under the GDPR apply to personal data a controller holds about you. We hold none: there is no account, no identifier and no server-side record associated with you. The data the app produces is in your possession, on your device, and deleting the app erases it. If you believe we hold something about you, write to privacy@aksial.io so we can respond to your request.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top and describe what changed. A change that begins collecting anything would be announced in the app before it took effect, not only here.
